<description>
	A resident and South Dakota native, Loy Allen returned to the black hills area to honer her craft after studying design at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, at which she received a B.A. in 1975.

	Ms. Allen also studied advanced glass techniques at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and at The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, producing captivating art glass pieces that draw direct inspiration from &#x26;quot;the natural world,&#x26;quot; as she says, more specifically the stark contrast in the rolling hills and plains of South Dakota.

	Ms. Allen also stakes claim stylistically from the Art Nouveau Age and a keen interest in plant and animal life in in a pantheistic state, and expressive in their natural forms, not necessarily realistic.
